Get ready to make music in the Portway Annexe

With the Town Hall team getting the building ready, the Portway Annexe is warming up in all senses. The heating is on and the people of Wells and its surrounding communities are proving to be very generous. Furniture has come out of storage, a school has donated a drum kit and professional audio equipment, including PA and guitar amps has been provided by supporters.

The plans for equipped rehearsal rooms are coming together nicely. The idea is to offer three affordable sessions a day, with morning, afternoon and evening slots using two rooms. If you are in a band looking for a place to be based, we also aim to have a couple of lockable storage cubicles and there will be parking spaces reserved to make unloading and loading easier for you (at the time of use).  If you are not in a band yet but want to be, let us know that too – we can publicise it on the wellsrocks.org website to help you link up with others.

A list is also being compiled of people interested in learning to play instruments in the Portway Annexe’s Contemporary Music Centre.  Several teachers would like to run group sessions. If you want to learn or return to playing drums, keyboards or guitar, get in touch with us so that we can understand the demand in the community and get the right mix of activities lined up.

We are also making progress with a larger multi-purpose audio-visual studio – watch this space. You too could be a YouTube star!
